Moon Valley Chapter
of the National Charity League.
The Moon Valley Chapter was established in 1997. The founding members sought to "foster compassion and perpetuate respect and courtesy." They sincerely believed the National Charity League would start their daughters on a lifelong commitment to serving others. The mothers are referred to as Patronesses and the daughters, in grades 7-12, are called Ticktockers.
NCL has evolved into a dynamic and well respected small group leadership program. It is unique in that both mothers and daughters develop leadership skills throughout their active participation in the Chapter, primarily though local philanthropic activities. Mothers and daughters work together as well as among their peer group, learning, growing and creating a positive impact in their local communities.
Our aim is to provide our membership with three kinds of experiences:
-
Philanthropic – building a legacy for volunteerism.
-
Leadership – developing essential skills for the future
-
Cultural – teaching and reinforcing time honored tasks such as thank you notes and teas.
Each year we attend various cultural events, choosing a different art form each year. A time honored NCL tradition is TEA. It is a requirement for every NCL Chapter to hold an annual tea (of some sort) with the daughters being trained in proper etiquette to serve as hostesses.
We want our ticktockers to have opportunities to know the joy of helping others, to learn tolerance and kindness and to make friends while sharing and participating in these activities.
